The SilViAlp project: From the original Via Alpina Yellow Trail™ to the Via Transalpina

SilViAlp intended to develop and promote a sustainable transnational tourism product consisting in a hiking experience on the long distance trail Via Alpina Yellow Trail™, tailored on the needs of the segment 55+ in terms of travel comfort, safety, security and lifestyle, resulting in the
Via Transalpina.

The project benefited from the support from destination management organizations, tour operators, public authorities, hiking associations and other mountain-related stakeholders.
During the project, specific innovative technologies supporting the individual activities during the trip and allowing the participants to share the hiking experience with a community of senior hikers was developed, taking into account 55+ needs in terms of friendliness, usability and safety.
From this experience, SilViAlp intends to extract a scalable business model to be transferred to similar areas in the Alps and elsewhere.
The project is supported and financed by the EU COSME funds. Project leader is the Institute of Regional Development and Location Management of EURAC, Bolzano.
Here the list of the partners, without which the project would have not been made possible:
